The Hostel facility in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University is a purpose-built accommodation to provide students with sophisticated and comfortable housing in their University years.

Young adults, many have been staying away from home for the first time in their life which is a real concern of the students and their families. We at CSMU share this concern and designed the hostel, associated facility and regulations accordingly.

Our primary aims are to provide:

  • A safe environment, with advanced security features such as a stable foundation upon which young students may build their academic careers.
  • Top-notch security with 24x7 manned entrance and CCTV surveillance system with AI support to reassure parents while their children are away from home.
  • A comfortable and affordable home away from home for the future leaders of our nation.

The Hostel is situated next to the library building and is easily accessible from the University main building, yet is deep in the heart of the nature, surrounded by the hills of the Western Ghats. The hostel is far from the main road and hence quiet and tranquil. The hostel is designed with comfortable, well-planned, safe, comfortable and contemporary material with convenient-to-use quality fittings. It has a well-equipped Gym, various recreation & sports facilities like basketball, badminton, snooker/pool tables, etc. A multipurpose ground for Cricket, football and track events is also located within the hostel grounds.

The entire facility has dedicated power back-up in case of power failure. The water supply is adequate and 24*7. The hostel is well connected with Panvel city both by government and private transport.

Various engagement activities are hosted by the hostel authorities for the resident students throughout the year.

The separate boys and girls hostels.

The hostel offers comfortable guesthouse facilities located within the hostel campus, for parents and visitors. It is advised to plan visits and book accommodation to avoid the non-availability of rooms. For further inquiries kindly write [email protected].

To professionally manage the hostels, the University has appointed Chief Security Superintendent and resident wardens for the hostel, who manage the administrative functions under the leadership of Dean of Students Welfare CSMU for both boys and girls hostels.

The hostel is provided with a common room where students can relax and watch television. A weekly laundry/linen service is also provided. The hostels are provided with 24-hour electricity and water supply, purified drinking water and mess service for food with utmost hygienic care. The campus canteen/cafeteria is also available during the University working hours. It is our prime responsibilities to take care of the students for their well being.

Note: Mess fee is NOT included in the Hostel Fee. The Hostel Management shall call for tender from catering agencies and shall set the mess fee at the most reasonable rate.
* Electricity consumption will not be charged up to a fixed limit per month as decided by the hostel administration, any increase in units above this limit will be charged at actual rate every month.

Rules Regarding Hostel Fee (Academic Year 2023-24) (Revised)

  1. Hostel Accommodation is given on first-come first-serve basis upon making an application for hostel accommodation with non-refundable application fee of Rs. 1000.
  2. 50 % of the Hostel fee is to be paid for admission if hostel application is approved. The rest of the Hostel fee is to be paid within 90 days of hostel admission.
  3. Academic Year 2023 starts from 1 st Aug. 2023 and ends at 31 st July 2024. If allocated with hostel room, the student shall be obliged to pay full fee of the Academic year.
  4. Hostel fee is strictly non-refundable and non-transferable. All fees must be paid on time before the due date. A late fee of Rs 100/- per day will be applicable after due date. If remains unpaid, after 10 days, a late fee of Rs. 150/- per day will be applicable. Hostel Facilities will be ceased after Non-payment of fees for 30 days.
  5. A discount of 5% in the Annual Hostel Fees shall be given to those who pay the full Hostel fee for the entire Academic Year at the time of admission.
  6. Regardless of the time of joining hostel, the resident shall pay the full Hostel Fee for the Academic Year 2023-24. If the resident leaves in the middle of the academic year for any reason, he/she shall be liable to pay the Hostel Fee for the Academic Year 2023-24 for the full Academic year.
  7. Hostel accommodation shall be requested during taking admission through online portal. Offline applications for hostel can be made in prescribed form.

Important Notes:

CSMU Hostel Rules &regulations will be available in the warden office and a hostel handbook will be provided to you in the campus during the room allocation. No individual intimation regarding the change in rules/policy will be entertained.

Hostel fee is strictly non-refundable after the commencement of the academic year. The hostel security deposit is refundable on completion of the programme subject to fulfilling all terms and conditions.

  • All payments are made online/offline through link provided at website.
  • Kindly visit our website to know the procedure to book a hostel room with your registration/application number and user id password received in your email id registered with the university.
  • Payment mode details (such as RTGS, NEFT, DD, Paytm, UPI etc.) will be available once you log in to the room booking portal.

All students must pay the fees as per the schedule declared by the hostel authorities. Failure to pay the fees on or before the date(s) specified will result in the instantaneous forfeiture of the room as well as any fees already paid. Fees for the subsequent years must be remitted on or before the due date notified by the hostel authorities and consequences provided in the resident/student undertaking which is mandatory to be signed by the students and it will be applicable in the event of any failure to do so.

  • Hostel Rules & regulations will be available on the portal and a handbook will be provided to you in the campus during the room allocation.
  • No individual intimation regarding the change in rules/policy will be given to the students/parents/ guardians. Every student is expected to ascertain this from the notice board or through the communication sent by Warden or the management of the Hostel via email and/or through the relevant online portals.

ROOM ALLOTMENT

  • Rooms will be allotted on first-come-first-serve basis after the full payment of Hostel fees. Allocation of the rooms will be done through university guidelines.
  • Hostelites are expected to display acceptable form of behavior and to maintain discipline and decorum in the hostels.
  • No mid session withdrawal from the hostel is permissible and as such no refund will be made in any circumstances, such as departure for training, joining etc.
  • Students are not allowed to change their allotted rooms. It may be changed, in special circumstances, and only after the permission of concerned hostel wardens.

STANDING ORDERS

  • All hard furnishings such as Fans, Bulbs, Tubes, Tables, Chairs, Cots and Almiras will be issued by the University to the students at the time of occupying the room. The students have to return all these in good condition at the time of leaving the room after the end of Academic Session.
  • No student is allowed to stay in the hostel during working hours.
  • Any hosteller, if found staying in the hostel during his/her class hours will be fined on the first offence and thereafter strict action will be taken against him/her.
  • Hostellers are not allowed to remain outside the hostel after 10.00 P.M. (For Girls not beyond 07.00 P.M.)
  • Possession, distribution and consumption of alcoholic beverages, prohibited drugs, chewable tobacco and smoking in the hostel is strictly prohibited and Students found involved in these activities will be fined and may be expelled from the hostel.
  • Day Scholars or non-hostellers are not allowed in hostels.
  • A hostel campus should be a place where students can have the best possible conditions for studies and adequate rest. As such, due consideration must be accorded to other hostelites at all times. Noise level must be kept low to allow others the opportunity to study or sleep in comfort. Television, Radio etc provided in the common room must be switched off or volume toned down after 10:00 pm. These rules are intended to ensure a tranquil environment for all hostelites.
  • Foreign / NRI students may reserve their rooms while submitting their application forms. Reservation will be based on their registration for the course with the admissions office. Foreign/NRI students will be required to submit self-attested photocopy of their passport along with their visa and relevant documents (e.g. Form C).
  • Allotment made to a student is subject to cancellation if he/she fails to occupy the room in the prescribed time. Students will also forfeit their rooms if they fail to clear all their hostel dues before the due date. In such cases, they will be asked to vacate the hostel.
  • Hostel accommodation is allotted purely on condition that the student agrees to abide by all the rules and regulations of the hostel. The Warden reserves the right to evict the resident from the hostel at any time on disciplinary grounds.
  • The Warden reserves the right to break open rooms in case of any violation of hostel rules, suspected unlawful activities or on the basis of security risk perceived.

CHANGE OF ROOM

  • Students must occupy rooms specifically allotted to them. They are not allowed to change rooms except with the written permission of the Warden
  • Application of change of room to Warden Office will be permitted only after one month of room allocation as per availability and allowed only one time with valid reason.
  • The shift will be permitted only on production of a receipt of payment and written approval from Warden Office.
  • Self-service is practiced in the Mess.
  • Do not get into any argument with the cook / mess staff.
  • Grievances if any, with regard to the mess should be conveyed to the hostel warden.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the Mess.
  • Food should not be carried to the rooms.
  • Wastage of Food is strictly discouraged.
  • Allowing guests to stay and to have meal in the mess without prior permission from the hostel warden will be viewed as infringement of the mess rules and would invite disciplinary action.
  • Complete safety and security of students is ensured by the Chief Security Superintendent and Warden of the hostel.
  • It is compulsory to use underpass for going outside the campus by duly signed by warden.
  • Biometric access is compulsory wherever needed to go outside campus. The back doors access is punishable offence.
  • The University strongly discourages students from staying outside the hostels. However, the students wish to make their own arrangements, they have to submit a consent letter from their parents/guardian to the warden. It is mandatory for such students to give their local address, contact / mobile number and subsequent changes as well (if any) to the designated authorities.
  • If a hostel resident student wants to vacate the hostel for any reason, his / her parents has to submit a written consent letter to the warden office, CSMU Panvel, Navi Mumbai.The Hostel In & Out time will be communicated by the Warden Office through notices or email
  • The students will be provided with a detailed handbook of Hostel Rules and Regulations at the time of admission. This will be made available at the time of allocation and on our hostel online student portal also. It is mandatory for students to accept the same, before they proceed to book the room online.
  • The student will receive an email with detailed instructions to book their hostel rooms, on their registered email Id after their admission is confirmed with the university.
  • It is expected that students take care of all assets with extreme diligence. Ill-handling of any asset by the student will be borne by Student either individually or collectively. In this, the decision of the Warden will be final.
