Application is invited for the admission the Ph.D. programme in the Academic Year 2024-25

Eligible applicants may fill up the online application form and attach copies of all certificate and mark sheets up to post-graduate latest by the last date of application as specified herewith. Incomplete application will not be considered.

Admission is open for Ph.D. in selected disciplines only with limited number of seats.

NOTE: NUMBER OF SEATS IN DIFFERENT DISCIPLINES MAY VARY AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION  

Eligibility criteria for admission to Ph.D. programme:

As per the UGC (minimum standards and procedures for award of M.Phil. and Ph.D.) Regulations 2022, Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme should have a 3-year Bachelor Degree followed by a 2-year Master's degree or a 4-year Bachelor Degree followed by a 1-year Masters Degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale or a 4-year Bachelors Degree with at least 75% marks in aggregate (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved,recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-able, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories ofcandidates as per UGC norms. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalentgrade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the gracemark procedures.

PhD Entrance Test (PET)

The applicants Ph.D. programmes who fulfill the eligibility criteria must be put through the Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) - an OFFLINE written test conducted by the University followed by a process of interview by a Panel constituted for this purpose. An appearing list will be published in the University notice board and website for the PET.

Candidates qualified in UGC-NET (Including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (Including JRF/SLET/GATE valid score) or LS fellowship holders and candidates who have M. Phil. degree will be exempted from PET. The Syllabus of PET is the same with the syllabus of the latest NET examination in the concerned subject.

Interview

An interview shall be organized for the candidates qualified in PET and the ones exempt from it where the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation. An appearing list for the Interview shall be published in the University notice board and website. 

Offer of Admission

  1. A merit list for admission shall be published based on the overall results of the PET and the interview. Applicants shall be short listed on the basis of merit only and depending on the predetermined seats available in each discipline
  2. Selected Candidates shall be asked to join within a scheduled last date. 
  3. Vacancies, arising out of any candidate’s failure to join within the stipulated time, shall be filled from amongst the candidates in the merit list.

Note:
  1. Full programme/ tuition fee is payable at the time of admission. (In case of instalments, at least 50% of the Tuition Fee is payable before commencement of classes as approved by competent authority.
  2. Other fees such as Examination fee/ ID card fee etc. will be applied as and when appropriate.
  3. For NRI and International Students, Optional Admission procedural charges (Medical Check-Up, Medical Insurance, AIU equivalence assistance, FRRO / Police verification / Visa Extension Assistance) are given below:
