Prof.Dr. SP Mishra is a distinguished legal scholar, visionary academic leader, and recognized expert in the field of law with over 21 years of exemplary experience in legal education and research. Dr Mishra has been awarded Gold Medalist in LL.M. and holder of a Ph.D. in Law, Dr. Mishra served Head Department of Law at CSMU. Currently serves as Professor & Dean, Faculty of Law at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University, Navi Mumbai.
Widely respected for his academic excellence and thought leadership, Dr. Mishra has made notable contributions in the domains of Constitutional Law, Criminal Law Reforms, Administrative Law, and the Law of Contract. His work reflects a strong commitment to shaping progressive legal thought and elevating the standards of legal education in India.
As an accomplished author and researcher, Dr. Mishra has authored multiple books, published numerous research papers, and actively participates in national and international academic dialogues. His expertise and guidance as an experienced Ph.D. supervisor have nurtured several research scholars, enhancing the university’s research culture and academic impact.
With his enriched experience, academic vision, and leadership approach, Dr. Mishra continues to play an instrumental role in building future-ready legal professionals, advancing legal knowledge, and contributing meaningfully to the evolution of legal studies in India.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University’s Department of Law (DoL) has quickly become a leading center for legal education. Approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI), the department offers LL.B., B.A. (Hons.)–LL.B., and B.B.A.–LL.B. integrated programs, along with postgraduate and doctoral courses. The LLM program provides specializations in Business Law, Criminology, Constitutional Law, and Human Rights.
Department of Law (DoL) emphasizes experiential learning through client-centered representation, enabling students to gain real-world legal skills and critical thinking abilities. The highly qualified faculty, engaging activities like Moot Courts, Legal Aid Clinics, seminars, and workshops, create an environment that nurtures excellence, professionalism, and lifelong learning in law.

Dr. Avani Mistry
Department of Law
Dr. Avani Mistry is an accomplished legal expert and Assistant Professor at the Department of Law at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University in Navi Mumbai with a Doctorate in Law, LLM, and M.Com, and Diploma in Cyber Law and ADR. Her work experience as a Director of a Pvt. Ltd. Co. and Legal Advisor gives her a unique perspective in the academic field of law. Dr. Mistry is a prolific writer and has presented several papers at various National and International Seminars and conferences. Her expertise makes her a valuable contributor to the legal community.
Her research work covers a wide range of topics, including Intellectual Property Law, Cyber Law, and Commercial Law. Her work has been well-received by her peers and has contributed significantly to the legal literature. Dr. Mistry’s latest books are a valuable resource for law students, legal practitioners, and anyone interested in the field of Law.

On 12th February 2025, 35 students of Chhatrpati Shivaji Maharaj University Department of law visited Taloja Central Prison as part of their extracurricular activity with respect to subjects like BNS, criminology, penology etc. This Visit conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dr. S P Mishra and Faculty in charge Assistant Prof Dr. Piyush Maheshwari. |
| 3 | 16.4.2025 | India Gate | Students visited India Gate, a 42-meter-high war memorial designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and inaugurated in 1931. Originally known as the All-India War Memorial, it honors the 70,000 Indian soldiers who died during World War I. The names of over 13,000 soldiers are inscribed on its sandstone surface. The monument also houses the Amar Jawan Jyoti, an eternal flame added in 1972 to commemorate soldiers who died in the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. In 2022, a 28-foot statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was installed under the canopy behind India Gate, further enriching its historical significance. |

Students traveled through the Atal Tunnel, the world's longest highway tunnel above 10,000 feet, connecting Manali to the Lahaul-Spiti Valley. During their visit, they experienced a snowfall, witnessing the region's transformation into a winter landscape. This first hand encounter with snowfall provided students with a memorable experience of the Himalayan environment. |
