department of basic sciences

The Department of Basic Sciences (DBS) runs Bachelor, Master and doctoral programmes in Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics and Geology: The core of the natural sciences that are fundamental to explain the nature, the earth and the universe. DBS offers specializations in Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry in the M.Sc. Chemistry programme.

Mathematics and statistics are the pathways to the opportune fields such as data science and big data management. Software-aided course curriculum and dedicated, experienced faculty are the backbone of this eternally demanding discipline.

B.Sc.(Hons.) and M.Sc. programmes are offered in Physics with specializations in Condensed –Matter Physics, Solid state physics, Electronics and Computational Physics. B.Sc. in combined Physics-Chemistry-Mathematics (PCM) can be pursued for a wider exposure at the postgraduate level and the employment scene.

The DBS has a number of active collaboration with prominent science and engineering institutes of India and abroad.
