Dr. Deepak Pawar

Dr. Deepak Pawar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University (CSMU), Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. He holds a Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University College of Arts and Social Sciences, Osmania University, Hyderabad. His doctoral research, completed in 2024, is titled “Ageing and Film: Representation of Older Characters in Hindi Commercial Cinema.”

Dr. Pawar is a UGC-NET Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) awardee (2018) and has also qualified UGC-NET (2017) and TS/AP State Eligibility Test (2015), making him eligible for lectureship across India. He possesses a strong academic foundation supported by professional media experience and interdisciplinary research exposure.

With more than a decade of teaching and industry engagement, Dr. Pawar brings a balanced pedagogical approach that integrates media theory, research, digital competencies, and hands-on production skills. His teaching areas include journalism (reporting, editing, and news writing), communication theory, advertising, public relations, media ethics and law, development communication, media management, research methodology, cultural and media studies, along with advanced courses in broadcast media and new media.

On the practical front, he has extensive experience teaching and mentoring students in filmmaking, television production, photography, video editing, radio production, print media, social media, and digital content creation. At CSMU, he also serves as a Ph.D. co-guide, Department Training and Placement Officer, and is responsible for the management of the television studio, contributing actively to academic administration and skill-based training.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Pawar worked as a Lecturer at Loyola Academy Degree and PG College, Hyderabad, where he taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in news reporting, online journalism, corporate communication, development communication, film studies, media laws and ethics, history of media, communication research, and methods. He played a key role in designing syllabi under the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) and contributed to the design of the MA (Journalism and Mass Communication) curriculum introduced in 2015. He also supervised undergraduate dissertations and documentary projects and was actively involved in organizing academic and cultural events, including INFOCUS, a national-level film festival, and Lenzcape, an inter-college photography festival.

Dr. Pawar has also served as an Assistant Professor at St. Joseph’s Degree and PG College, Hyderabad, where he taught media management, electronic media, online journalism, corporate communication, and print media practicals. He was actively involved in institutional responsibilities, including handling finance and publicity committees, event publicity, and serving as a class teacher for postgraduate students. He also contributed to the organization and promotion of the Cinevolution Film Festival.

His professional media experience includes working as a Sub-Editor at The Hans India (associated with HMTV Telugu News Channel), where he edited content and designed pages for print publication. He also worked as an Assistant to Program Producer at All India Radio (Akashvani), contributing to the recording and editing of folk programmes for broadcast.

Dr. Pawar has a strong research orientation with publications in UGC-referred and peer-reviewed journals and edited books. His research contributions focus on visual storytelling, ageing and cinema, colour theory in film, digital narratives, immersive media, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and media representation of senior citizens. He has authored and co-authored journal articles and book chapters, including works on Bollywood horror narratives, cinematic colour symbolism, immersive storytelling technologies, and media coverage of senior citizens’ rights.

He has presented research papers at national and international conferences and UGC-sponsored seminars, addressing themes such as visual storytelling in Bollywood cinema, media and human rights, rural and tribal development, and digital media content analysis. His interdisciplinary research approach bridges media studies, sociology, development communication, and digital technologies.

Dr. Pawar has also contributed to funded and academic research projects, including work as a Project Assistant under a Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) project on social networking sites and psycho-social behaviour. Additionally, he has undertaken independent research studies on messaging applications and social relations as part of his postgraduate academic work.

His technical proficiency includes SPSS, QuarkXPress, Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere Pro, InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, Adobe Audition, Sony Sound Forge, and MS Office. He has received professional training in acting from the Annapurna College of Film and Media, enhancing his engagement with performance and visual storytelling.

Dr. Pawar’s additional achievements include delivering guest lectures on Development Communication at reputed institutions, serving as a student editor for the Osmania Courier (Osmania University tabloid), and holding leadership experience as an NCC Senior Under Officer. He was also a member of the Andhra Pradesh contingent for the Republic Day Camp, New Delhi (2010).

Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh is an Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University, Navi Mumbai, with over 30 years of professional experience in journalism, filmmaking, and media education. He has worked extensively in technical operations and content production for leading news channels and media organizations such as India TV, Lehren, and Bhaskar TV.

As a filmmaker, he has directed the feature film MEHU, several critically acclaimed short films, and the documentary 125 Years of Indian Circus. His work reflects a strong command of visual storytelling and socially relevant narratives.

Dr. Singh’s academic and professional expertise includes film direction, screenwriting, documentary filmmaking, digital journalism, technical operations in news channels, and AI-driven content and video production. Prof. Dr. Ruchi Goswami

Prof. (Dr.) Ruchi Goswami is a distinguished academician, media professional, and strategic communicator with nearly twenty-five years of extensive experience in teaching, research, and mainstream media practice. She holds a Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communication, along with an M.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication, an M.A. in English Literature, a B.J.M.C., and a (Hons.) in English, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education (PGDHE). A Visharad in Vocal Music, she represents a rare confluence of scholarly excellence and artistic sensibility.

Currently serving as Professor and Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University, Navi Mumbai, Dr. Goswami has previously contributed over two decades of dedicated academic and administrative leadership to The IIS (Deemed to be University), Jaipur. She has taught at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, M.Phil., and Ph.D. levels, and served as a valued Counselor for IGNOU for more than fifteen years.

Bringing rich professional experience from leading national media organizations such as The Times of India, Dainik Bhaskar, and Rajasthan Patrika, Dr. Goswami has worked across editorial, reporting, and strategic content domains. Dr. Chandra Kishore Singh

Prof. (Dr.) C. K. Singh has been serving as the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Communication at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj University, Navi Mumbai, since July 2019. His core responsibilities encompass research leadership, academic coordination, and administrative management across the Faculties of Arts, Humanities, Languages, and Communication.

A seasoned media and communication professional, Dr. Singh brings with him an illustrious career spanning over four decades of diverse, cross-functional experience at both the national and international levels. He holds a Ph.D. in Mass Media and Journalism from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad.

An officer of the prestigious Indian Information Service (IIS), Dr. Singh has served in multiple key media units under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, including All India Radio (AIR), Doordarshan, Press Information Bureau (PIB), Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Directorate of Public Relations, Ministry of Defence, and the Registrar of Newspapers for India (RNI). His distinguished government service culminated with his tenure as Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, Government of India, Pune, where he supervised rural communication and outreach initiatives of the Central Government across Maharashtra and Goa.
