Objectives of the Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC)

  • To promote equality and ensure equal opportunities for all students and staff.
  • To prevent discrimination based on caste, religion, gender, disability, region, language, or socio-economic background.
  • To create an inclusive and supportive academic environment.
  • To address grievances related to discrimination and recommend appropriate action.
  • To ensure the effective implementation of UGC policies regarding equal opportunity.

Functions of the Equal Opportunity Cell

  1. Promote equal access to education and institutional facilities.
  2. Create awareness about constitutional rights, equality, and social justice.
  3. Facilitate support for students belonging to disadvantaged and marginalized groups.
  4. Receive and address complaints related to discrimination or denial of equal opportunity.
  5. Organize seminars, workshops, awareness programmes, and counselling sessions on equality and inclusion.
  6. Monitor the implementation of UGC guidelines related to equal opportunity.
  7. Submit periodic reports to the University authorities and other statutory bodies as required.

The constitution of the Equal Opportunity Cell is in line with:

  • UGC (Promotion of Equity in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2012
  • National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes equity, inclusion, and equal access to quality education for all.

Functions of the Equal Opportunity Cell

The Cell shall:

  1. Ensure equal opportunities in admission, teaching-learning, examination, research, and student support services.
  2. Receive and examine complaints relating to discrimination or denial of equal opportunity.
  3. Recommend appropriate remedial measures to the Competent Authority.
  4. Organize orientation programmes, workshops, seminars, awareness campaigns, and counselling sessions on equity and inclusion.
  5. Coordinate with the SC/ST Cell, OBC Cell, Minority Cell, Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Students' Grievance Redressal Cell (SGRC), Anti-Ragging Committee, and Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs) Cell for effective implementation of inclusive practices.
  6. Facilitate access to scholarships, welfare schemes, and institutional support for eligible students.
  7. Maintain records of meetings, activities, and grievances and submit an Annual Report to the University.
